Shana Tova U’Metuka ! שנה טובה ומתוקה

Dear WCGLBTJ supporters and friends,

2006 was a year of countless achievements for us and for the LGBT Jewish community.

Some of the highlights include :

-  On Purim 2006 we launched the Torah Queeries Project in conjunction with Jewish Mosaic. It is a weekly Torah portion that speaks to our community by members of the community.

-  Also on Purim, we started the Latin American Development Fund to support the initiatives of LGBT Jewish activists and their communities in Latin America. We’ve started to reap fruits and the work is ongoing.

-  In August, we were part of a once in a lifetime milestone for the worldwide LGBT community : Jerusalem World Pride 2006. Our World Congress mini-conference was an opportunity for LGBT Jews from all over the world to meet, socialize and learn about issues of relevance to the community. It was a delightful event with people coming from Argentina, Israel, South Africa, Russia, the US and Mexico !

-  LGBT Jewish initiatives keep sprouting all over, and our community is there with them. In July 2006 we had the pleasure to welcome aboard Jewish Outlook from South Africa.

-  We continuously strive to provide you with updated information on LGBT Jewish news across the globe through our weekly e-newsletter.

-  LGBT Jewish arts has been a permanent part of our e-newsletter, giving visibility to talented and outstanding Jewish LGBT film-makers, producers, photographers, writers and painters.

-  For all those who travel abroad, they have found in the World Congress a center to acquire information about LGBT Jewish friendly places as part of our mission to create a safe haven for LGBT Jews wherever they are.

-  This year we are pleased to support our member organization, Israel’s Aguda, in its bid to host Europride in 2009.

For over 30 years now, the World Congress of GLBT Jews has been a point of reference for LGBT Jews worldwide. In 2007 we will be expanding the scope of our activities and we hope to continue to count on your support.

I would like to wish you on behalf of all our member organizations, volunteers and friends a prosperous new year. Shana Tova U’Metuka.

Chag Sameach !
