President of World Congress visits member organization Congregation Etz Chaim

On the first Shabbat of the secular New Year, Howard Solomon, the World Congress President, was given the honor of participating in services as the Guest Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Etz Chaim in Wilton Manors, FL. Howard owns a vacation home in South Florida and is a frequent attendee at Etz Chaim Friday night services when in the area.

Howard has known the Rabbi and much of the Congregation Board for several years now. He is a close friend of Congregation VP and Ritual Committee Chair Scott Dolinsky who worked with others at the Temple to arrange the honor. Their usual Cantorial Soloist, Michael (Scott, what is his last name) was on vacation that night.

Especially touching was the Attendance of perhaps the newest member of Congregation Etz Chaim attending his first service.

In addition, Howard spoke to members of the Executive Board the following Tuesday to update them on the role of the World Congress and the Steering Committee, solicit a Board of Directors member from the Congregation, mention draft stage conference planning, and solicit input on what the World Congress can do to help them. He specifically mentioned a project currently in development to allow Congregation leaders from all World Congress member organizations to communicate via our website. This should be up and running shortly.

One of Howard’s primary goals as President is outreach, both to our existing member organizations and potential new ones. He has already met with some of the Board of Congregation Bet Mishpechah in DC where the suggestion for web-based communication was initially raised. He and other members of the Steering Committee plan to meet with as many member organizations as possible during their travels. If anyone has any feedback for him, please contact Howard via email at [email protected].
